Note: I missed to notice that Newsify iPhone app has In App Purchases. iPad version does not have any though! Thanks to commentator cb.
Did your old reading app stop working after Google Reader shutdown? Or are you looking for a good alternative to your current reading app?
In any case, you don’t need to look much. Newsify is the best reader app available for iPhone and iPad. It is free and offers no in app purchases.
It has a solid 4.5 rating on app store and integrates well with Feedly.
Looks and Presentation
The app looks quite good. Best thing about it is the way it presents the news. Your stream is presented in a newspaper layout. I don’t know about you but this is one of the best layouts for me. It makes you want to read the news. See for yourself:
App allows you to read in full screen by just tapping on text. You can go to original article by double tapping. Fonts can be customized, and if you are a night person, you have a night mode that can make reading easy without lights.
Speed and Sync
App is quite fast and syncs well. Best thing with sync is that it is two way. You can add a feed in Newsify and it will appear in feedly and vice versa. This was one thing that I couldn’t do well with Reeder, my previous reading app.
App has integration with Facebook, Twitter, Buffer, Pocket and many popular social services. When you tap share, you get list of three last used services. Others can be accessed by tapping “More”.
You can also email the link or whole article easily.
I have been using the app for almost 3 weeks now and there are no big issues. In fact, there’s just one that I have noticed. And that is the problem with syncing. At start, it does not sync automatically. Instead, it shows a link at bottom of screen asking to refresh.
Apart from this small issue, the app is perfect for all your RSS reading needs.
What do you think about the app? If you’re already using it, do not forget to tell your experience in comments.
